Maksim Chmerkovsiy and Peta Murgatroyd kept their romance very much under wraps until after “Dancing With the Stars” wrapped last season. Buzz that the two were romantically involved broke right before the finale, and for a while the two tried to deny there was anything going on between them. These days it seems they are opening up a bit about their romance, or at least when it comes to their Twitter updates. Saturday it seemed the two had to head separate ways for different appearances, and both noted it was sad to say goodbye.
During the “Dancing With the Stars” off-season, both Maks and Peta have kept very busy calendars filled with appearances and commitments. Maks was recently in Toronto filming a commercial, while just before that Peta joined up with her celebrity partner Donald Driver in Green Bay to celebrate their win. When they are both in the same city they seem to be nearly inseparable these days, whether that means painting the town red or staying in for quiet time. No matter how much time they spend together, however, it seems it’s hard to separate again.
Saturday morning Peta Murgatroyd tweeted, “MaksimC hate goodbyes 
“ and she attacked a cute picture of Maks giving her a kiss while she looked sad. Maks was quick to retweet it and add his own frown face to the tweet. It seems Maks did a quick trip to Chicago for a Timex event while Peta was off to Nevada for an event at Galleria at Sunset. From there it seems that she is headed to Los Angeles, while it seems Maks was headed back home to the East coast.
These two definitely sizzle together, and many DWTS fans think that they make a great couple. Of course they’ve both been tied to other “Dancing With the Stars” pros in the past, as Peta Murgatroyd dated Damian Whitewood for some time and fans remember Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s engagement to Karina Smirnoff. Could this be the match that will stand the test of time? It is apparently still a fairly new romance, so fans will have to stay tuned, but so far it looks like they are doing really well together. Of course viewers would love to see them both on the “All-Stars” season of “Dancing With the Stars” this fall, but ABC won’t be sharing the official cast for a while yet. What do you think of this romance?

Wonton12 – I agree! I really do like them together! I think that he has really wanted to find the right gal, and certainly Karina wasn’t that for him. I think Peta seems like she could be a great match for him, and they are so adorably smitten with one another! I agree that they really do seem to complement one another well – and as much as they’d like to say this is still pretty new, I think they’ve been together a bit longer (say a few months) than most people realize. I definitely wish them the best too!
Peta seems more into Maks than he is into her. I’m seeing a one-sided enthusiasm. I think when analyzing things it’s important to note who is doing most of the tweeting. Peta is doing it. Maks is mostly quiet or lowkey about the relationship. Peta keeps tweeting pics of them as a “couple” but actually I don’t see the sizzle at all in the pics. I think Maks enjoyed being with this years “Champ” but I don’t think it will last. This relationship is going to be marred by the fact that Peta cheated on Damian to be with Maks. Peta was still living with Damian up until April. They had a six year relationship. This new relationship with Maks started way before they announced it to the public. Both Lacey and Kym (who are other professionals on the show) have unfollowed Peta on twitter due to the fact that she cheated on Damian. They are siding with Damian. Damian’s father was outraged by this cheating and let his feelings be known on twitter. I think any relationship that starts off with a lie is doomed.

I knew that Peta and Damian had been pretty serious, but I didn’t know they’d dated that long – I thought it had just been a couple of years. I know a while back I caught some comment somewhere that was Damian’s dad “warning” Maks not to show up in Australia – I think I got that right, so I knew things had gotten ugly. I didn’t know for a fact Peta started up with Maks before she split with Damian, but it all fits. Ugh, that’s a mess. I think you bring up an interesting point too about how she’s doing most of the tweeting about it – which fits with how it’s supposedly said that she’d had a crush on him for quite a while.
I think they have the potential to be really cute together, but you are right – if it’s all that ugly behind-the-scenes, it sure seems unlikely it’ll last in the long run. Thanks for the details! I figured it started quite some time ago, especially based on Katherine Jenkins saying that there was a couple on-set this season, but it didn’t involve her or Derek – as I looked at the possibilities, I had a strong feeling it was Maks and another pro, and Peta was one of the only viable options. I want to like them together, but that’s some ugly stuff going on there. Not cool.

You’re right, it’s all assumptions. But that didn’t stop Maks’s fans from trashing Karina for years when they had nothing to go on but assumptions.
But Peta had nothing to do with what had happened to Karina {it’s not fair}. I think some fans are obsessed, and imagin thing as if they are living their{Maks, Karina, Peta,Damian}lives. They{M,K,P,D} knows what happens in their life and what is good for them and what makes them happy.

It wasn’t fair to Karina to be trashed for years by Maks fans who had no idea what really happened between them. That didn’t stop them from doing it.
Lacey and Kym both still follow Peta on twitter. That’s easily checked, so I don’t know why you’d bother to spread such an obvious lie.
luckystar and Lisa, thanks for the notes – I just checked, and you’re right, Lacey and Kym follow Peta and vice versa. I admit, I didn’t check myself until just now. Perhaps they did unfollow for a while and have mended things and re-followed, maybe nothing ever happened – I don’t know.
I think that the timing of things between Damian-Peta-Maks does raise some red flags, but at the same time as others have said, none of us know for certain exactly what happened. It’s too bad that things (seem to have) ended badly between Damian and Peta, and I hope that the romance between Maks and Peta got off on solid ground.
I think they could be a cute and fun couple, so I’m hoping all is well within (most of) the DWTS pro ranks and everybody can move forward on a happy note.
Stacy, thanks for reminding me of the Katherine Jenkin’s comment. The article with Jenkins discussing an on-set romance came out April 12th. Presumably, this was going on even before April 12th.I remember seeing Maks suddenly keen to throw these big BBQs at his place with Peta (and other troupe/cast members in attendance). If she were planning on cheating on Damian, a “group” BBQ is a good cover. All she would have to do is stay a little later than everyone else to sleep over with Maks. Yikes!

Obviously you have more of this pinned down than I do, but I just glanced at his tweets and my guess would be he and Peta split up around the 22nd or so – the next few days show several tweets about facing challenges, the unknown, etc. – though I don’t follow him closely enough to know if those types of tweets are unusual for him. Those sound like post-break-up tweets to me though.
Yikes on it all is right – I’m definitely viewing this a bit differently now!

Timing is correct. Every week up to April 16 they were tweeting each other’s voting info. On April 23 he was no longer following her and stopped tweeting her voting info. She stopped tweeting his the next week.
This is so ridiculous. So going to a BBQ means you’re sleeping together? Wow. You are making quite a leap with that theory. There are several things that could have happened. Just because you like your little story doesn’t make it real.
Without knowing when Damian and Peta split or knowing when Maks and Peta got together it’s not possible to ‘know’ there was any cheating. This is how rumors and lies get started.
All you have to do is look at Damian’s tweets to know by when he stopped tweeting and following her that she cheated on him with Maks. This was right after he flew back to LA from Australia to support her the first week of the show.
If she had a crush on Maks for a long time and he was available why didn’t she break up with Damian before he left for Australia or flew back after the show? I guess Maks wasn’t interested until he realized she had a good chance of winning the mirror ball trophy and Peta didn’t want to give up the thing with Damian until she knew she had snagged Maks.
It’s funny that her cheating is fine with Maks’s family, friends and fans. Even though they trashed Karina for years for doing it to him.

I don’t like people that cheat. Peta in my opinion is very ambitious and looking for fame. Damian could’nt give her that fame but Maks sure could. Since Maks has been with her he acts like a 16 year old in love. Maks you are 32 get with reality. You never tweet anymore but when you do thayt witty and exciting guy seems to be neutered and as boring and bland as Peta!
